Unexpected turns

Since 2010 I am the co-founder of the Belgian Serama club. This was a friend's idea. We thought we could make something beautiful. An association for hobby breeders with a common goal to achieve the same quality as the serama is known in Malaysia. Reality was quite the opposite. Breeders wanted to fight each other by showing off the most beautiful animal and looking down on others. There was nothing but jealousy, envy and hatred among some of the members that were going to ruin it for everyone. Ultimately, the result was self-destructive. It was naive to think that we would bring all the people in the club people together to work together towards one common goal. With the new animals from Malaysia, a strong improvement of this beautiful breed could be achieved. Partly there has been an improvement. Yet we could have gone much further! The reality is that competition is destructive rather than motivational. Sometimes I see enthusiasm flaring up, but I'm afraid of the result. Associations come and go down again. The advice I would give to everyone now is this: stay away from associations and do your own thing with the right people. Competition drives people apart instead of building bridges. There is no need to compete at all. I see breeders who only see the best in other people's animals and find no satisfaction in their own hobby and creation. That's why I hold my heart and hope you all walk a different path.

The rioter is now easy to spot. They cannot resist spewing negative comments about other people's animals. The conceited!
Drop them like a brick ...

The right people will always welcome you and share their experiences with you. Exchange animals and eggs in a mutual balance. It doesn't work if everything has to come from one side.
It is about giving and taking. That's the spirit!

Fortunately, I am surrounded by the right people with the same passion and attitude.
